استعمال کا طریقہ

  1. Choose whether to count from your last period or from a known conception date (for example after IVF).
  2. Pick the date. For the last period, use the day it started (LMP).
  3. If your cycle is usually longer or shorter than 28 days, enter its length. Otherwise leave it at 28.
  4. Your estimated due date, how many weeks and days along you are, your trimester and the days to go update as you change the inputs.
  5. The timeline below lists the usual scan windows, the end of each trimester, full term and the due date with real dates. Use copy or pdf to keep it for your next check-up.

How is the due date calculated?

Doctors use Naegele's rule: take the first day of your LMP, add 7 days, then add 9 months (or take away 3 months and add a year). That gives your Estimated Due Date (EDD), based on a pregnancy of 40 weeks (280 days) from the LMP. This pregnancy due date calculator does the sum for you, counting the exact 280 days.

Due date = LMP + 280 days + (cycle length − 28 days)
Due date = conception date + 266 days

For example, an LMP of 1 January 2026 with a 28-day cycle gives a due date of 8 October 2026. With a 35-day cycle ovulation is likely about a week later, so the date moves to 15 October.

Pregnancy timeline

The calculator uses the common ACOG definition of trimesters: the first ends at 13 weeks 6 days, the second at 27 weeks 6 days. Some hospitals count slightly differently (the NHS, for example, ends the first trimester at 12 weeks), so treat the split as a general guide.

TrimesterWeeksKey milestones
FirstUp to 13 weeks 6 daysOrgan formation, first ultrasound (8–12 weeks), NT scan
Second14 weeks to 27 weeks 6 daysAnatomy scan (18–20 weeks), foetal movement begins
Third28 weeks until birthRapid weight gain, GBS test, birth preparation

Main scans during pregnancy in India

  • Dating scan: 6–8 weeks (confirms the pregnancy and dates it)
  • NT scan + double marker: 11–13 weeks (screening for Down syndrome)
  • Anomaly scan: 18–20 weeks (checks for structural problems)
  • Growth scan: 28–32 weeks and again at 36 weeks

Within 1–2 weeks for most women. The LMP (last menstrual period) method assumes a 28-day cycle with ovulation on day 14. About 80% of babies are born within 2 weeks of the estimated due date. If your cycles are irregular, a first-trimester ultrasound (crown-rump length measurement) is more accurate, to within 5–7 days.

It's the formula almost every doctor and calculator uses: add 7 days to the first day of your LMP, then take away 3 months (or add 9 months). That gives the Estimated Due Date (EDD). For example, an LMP of 1 January gives an EDD of 8 October the same year.

Pregnancy is split into three trimesters. The first runs to the end of week 13 (13 weeks 6 days), when organs form and the risk of miscarriage is highest. The second runs from week 14 to the end of week 27, when the baby starts moving and most women feel their best. The third starts at week 28 and lasts until birth. Babies born from 37 weeks are term: 37 to 38 weeks is called early term and 39 to 40 weeks full term. Some hospitals split the trimesters slightly differently, so take it as a guide.

Then the due date shifts. With a longer cycle (say 35 days), ovulation is probably later, so the due date moves later too. With a shorter cycle (say 21 days), it moves earlier. This calculator adjusts for it if you enter your usual cycle length. If your cycles are irregular, talk to your gynaecologist, because an early ultrasound is the most reliable way to date a pregnancy.

Not usually. Most doctors see birth anywhere from 37 to 42 weeks as normal, and going past 40 weeks is common. Only about 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Most hospitals start extra monitoring or induction around 41 weeks. Follow your doctor's advice rather than a calculator.
