How to Use
- Drop one or more photos on the box. The first one appears in the live preview; tap any file name to preview that one instead.
- Choose Text or Logo. For text, type the words and pick the font, size and colour. For a logo, choose an image (a PNG with a transparent background looks best) and set its width.
- Set the Opacity and Rotation, then pick a Placement: One position with the 3 ร 3 grid, or Tiled across the photo with the spacing slider.
- Choose Save as JPG, PNG or WebP (and the quality for JPG or WebP), then tap Watermark image (it reads Watermark 5 images when you have added five).
- Download each photo with its download button, or tap Download all as ZIP.
What this image watermark tool does
This image watermark tool lets you add a watermark to your photos: a line of text such as "For KYC use only" or "ยฉ Mehta Studio", or your logo. You can place it in one corner or repeat it across the whole picture, set how see-through it is, tilt it, and do the same to many photos in one go. Then download them as JPG, PNG or WebP.
The photos are processed in your browser and never uploaded. That's the point when the picture is an ID card copy.
Why watermark ID copies before sharing
In India we hand over photocopies and WhatsApp photos of Aadhaar, PAN, passports and cheques all the time: to a broker, a landlord, a SIM card shop, a new employer. An unmarked copy can be reused for another purpose. A watermark that says who it was given to, why and when makes misuse harder and easier to spot. A good text is short and specific, for example "For HDFC home loan KYC only, 16/10/2026".
For Aadhaar, UIDAI also lets you download a masked Aadhaar from the myAadhaar portal, which shows only the last four digits of the number. Masking and watermarking together are better than either one alone.
How the size and position are worked out
Every setting is relative to the photo's width, so the watermark looks the same on a 600 px WhatsApp image and a 4000 px camera photo.
logo width = image width ร logo width %
edge margin (one position) = 3% of the shorter side
tiled gap = image width ร spacing %
When tiled, the copies are laid out on a grid that's rotated by your angle, with every other row shifted by half a step like bricks. The grid covers the photo's diagonal, so no corner is left empty, even at 45ยฐ.
A worked example
You have a 1600 ร 1200 px photo of your PAN card. With the text size at 6% the letters are 1600 ร 0.06 = 96 px tall. At 40% opacity, rotated โ30ยฐ and tiled with 10% spacing (160 px), the text repeats across the card in diagonal rows, so it can't be cropped out without spoiling the card.
Settings that work
| Use | Placement | Opacity | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| ID card or document copy | Tiled, โ30ยฐ to โ45ยฐ | 35โ50% | 5โ8% |
| Product photos for a WhatsApp catalogue | Bottom right | 50โ70% | 3โ5% (or logo 15โ20%) |
| Photography portfolio or Instagram | Bottom centre or corner | 30โ50% | 2โ4% |
| Draft or confidential images | Centre, โ30ยฐ | 25โ40% | 12โ18% |
Tips
- Pick a colour that contrasts with the photo. Grey works on most documents; white with lower opacity suits dark photos.
- For a logo, use a PNG with a transparent background. A JPG logo brings its white box with it.
- Choose PNG output if the photo has transparency or you plan to edit it again. JPG at 85โ90% quality is smaller and fine for sharing.
- A watermark discourages misuse but can't prevent it. Share ID copies only with people who really need them.
