How to Use
- Drop a PDF on the box or tap it to choose one. The right side lists the page sizes it has now.
- Pick the new page size (A4, A5, A3, Letter, Legal or Custom in millimetres) and the orientation. "Match each page" keeps landscape pages landscape.
- Choose how to place each page: Fit (whole page visible), Fill and crop (no white space), or No scaling (original size, centred).
- Set a margin in millimetres if you'll print it. 0 is edge to edge. The "After" table shows the sizes you'll get.
- Press Download resized PDF. Your file is processed on your device and never uploaded.
Change the page size of a PDF
This PDF page size converter puts every page of a PDF on a new page of the size you choose: A4, A5, A3, US Letter, Legal or any custom size. It's what you need when a US client sends a Letter-size contract and your office prints on A4, when a portal insists on A4 uploads, when you want a booklet or notice on A5, or when a scan came out in some odd size. The pages are copied as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable. Nothing is converted to images and nothing is uploaded: the work happens in your browser.
Common paper sizes
| Size | Millimetres | Points (1/72 inch) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| A4 | 210 ร 297 | 595 ร 842 | Standard office paper in India |
| A5 | 148 ร 210 | 420 ร 595 | Booklets, notices, half-page forms |
| A3 | 297 ร 420 | 842 ร 1191 | Drawings, posters, charts |
| Letter | 216 ร 279 | 612 ร 792 | USA and Canada |
| Legal | 216 ร 356 | 612 ร 1008 | US legal documents and long forms |
Fit, fill or no scaling
- Fit shrinks or enlarges the page so all of it shows inside the margins. If the shapes differ, you get white bands at the top and bottom or at the sides. This is the safe choice for documents.
- Fill and crop enlarges the page until it covers the whole area, then cuts off what spills over. Good for posters and photos where white bands look bad; check that nothing important sat near the edges.
- No scaling keeps the original size and centres it. Use it to put an A5 page on A4 paper at its true size; a page bigger than the new size gets cut at the edges.
Fill: scale = max(available width รท page width, available height รท page height)
available = paper size โ 2 ร margin
Worked example: a Letter page (215.9 ร 279.4 mm) onto A4 with 10 mm margins. The space inside the margins is 190 ร 277 mm. Width ratio 190 รท 215.9 = 0.880, height ratio 277 รท 279.4 = 0.991. Fit takes the smaller, so the page is printed at 88% and centred, with a little extra space above and below. Fill would take 0.991, which makes the page about 214 mm wide, so about 12 mm is cut off each side.
Orientation and rotated pages
"Match each page" gives landscape pages a landscape sheet and portrait pages a portrait one, which suits mixed files like a report with wide tables. "Same as page 1" uses the first page's orientation for all, and Portrait or Landscape force one for every page. Pages that are stored sideways with a rotation flag (common in scans) are handled the way your PDF viewer shows them, so they don't come out turned.
Good to know
- Text, images and drawings are kept exactly. Clickable links, bookmarks and fillable form fields are not carried over, so fill a form before resizing it.
- Password-protected PDFs can't be changed. Open the file with its password, print it to a new PDF, and resize that copy.
- For printing, a 5 to 10 mm margin keeps the edges clear of the printer's unprintable border.
- The "Now" and "After" tables list page sizes in millimetres and name standard sizes, so you can confirm the result before downloading.
