Rotate PDF Pages

Rotate one page, chosen pages or all pages of a PDF by 90°, 180° or 270°

How to Use

  1. Choose or drop your PDF. Page previews appear as you scroll, and the file never leaves your device.
  2. Tap a page to turn it 90° clockwise, or use the ↺ / ↻ buttons under it.
  3. To turn many pages at once, choose All pages, Odd, Even or Choose pages (for example 1-3, 6), then press Left 90°, Right 90° or 180°.
  4. Press Download rotated PDF. Use Reset to undo all rotations before downloading.

How PDF rotation works

Scanned pages often come out sideways or upside down: a landscape table in a portrait report, a form fed into the scanner the wrong way round, or the back pages of a double-sided scan. This tool lets you rotate PDF pages the right way up and saves the change into the file, so it stays fixed for everyone you send it to. It runs entirely in your browser, and your document is never uploaded.

Every page in a PDF has a rotation setting (the /Rotate entry), which the PDF standard (ISO 32000) allows to be 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees, clockwise. This tool changes only that setting:

new rotation = (current rotation + your turn) mod 360
Right 90° adds 90 · Left 90° adds 270 (the same as −90) · 180° adds 180

Nothing on the page is redrawn, so rotation is lossless. Text stays sharp and selectable, images aren't re-compressed, links and bookmarks keep working, and the file size hardly changes.

Worked example

Suppose you scanned a 10-page application in which page 4 came out sideways (it needs a quarter turn clockwise) and pages 7 and 8 are upside down:

PagesWhat you doRotation before → after
4Tap page 4 once (or press its ↻ button)0° → 90°
7, 8Choose pages: 7-8, then press 180°0° → 180°
A page already set to 90° by the scanner appPress its ↺ button once90° → 0°

Pages with a change are highlighted and show the turn you added, such as "↻ 90°". Four quarter turns bring a page back to where it started.

Fixing a double-sided scan

When an office scanner scans both sides of each sheet, the back sides sometimes come out upside down. In the scanned PDF those are the even-numbered pages (2, 4, 6…). Choose Even, press 180° and download. Every back page is fixed in one go. Use Odd in the same way if the front sides are the ones that need turning.

Rotating in a PDF viewer vs. rotating the file

Most PDF readers let you rotate the view, but that usually changes only how the page looks on your screen until you close the document. The next person who opens the file still sees it sideways. Rotating here writes the new orientation into the PDF itself.

Tips

  • The previews show each page as it looks now, including any rotation it already had. Your turn is added on top.
  • For a custom set of pages, type numbers and ranges such as 1-3, 6, 9- (9- means page 9 to the end).
  • Your original file is never changed. The download is a new file ending in -rotated.pdf.
  • Password-protected and encrypted PDFs can't be edited here. Save an unprotected copy first.
  • Need to reorder, delete or extract pages as well? Use the Organize PDF Pages tool.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The tool changes only each page's rotation setting inside the PDF. Nothing is redrawn or re-compressed, so text stays sharp and selectable, links keep working and the file size barely changes.

Yes. Tap the page to turn it 90° clockwise, or use the ↺ and ↻ buttons under it. To turn a set of pages, choose Choose pages, type numbers such as 2, 5-7, and press Left 90°, Right 90° or 180°.

Choose Even, press 180° and download. In a double-sided scan the back sides are usually the even-numbered pages. If it's the odd pages that are upside down, choose Odd instead.

Yes. The downloaded file (ending in -rotated.pdf) has the new orientation stored in it, so it opens the right way up in any PDF reader, on any device. Your original file isn't changed.

No. The previews are drawn and the rotated PDF is created entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your device.

Because this tool can't safely change encrypted PDFs, including ones that open without a password but have editing restrictions. Open the file in a PDF reader you trust, save or print an unprotected copy, and rotate that copy.
